Welcome to the Big Cwtch blog! Here you’ll find all the latest news and updates about our beautiful lakeside festival, showcasing the best music, food and feel-good atmosphere that our beloved Carmarthenshire has to offer, and all for a great charity cause!
Haven’t heard of the Big Cwtch before? Well, get ready for a treat.
Let’s start with some good old Welsh history. The word ‘cwtch’ has been used by the people of Wales for millennia, and was first coined by an actual dragon (citation pending). Some people like to translate ‘cwtch as ‘hug’ or ‘cuddle’, but we in Wales know that it’s so much more than that. To have a cwtch is to be filled with warmth, to feel relaxation, comfort and love. In short, a truly magical experience. And that’s exactly the feeling the Big Cwtch strives to recreate at our annual festival, celebrating all things local, all things tasty, and all things magical.
Let yourself be tempted by a myriad of tantalising tastes as you stroll down Street Food Alley. Explore the magical Walled Garden, where you and your kids can discover hitherto undiscovered skills in crafts and perhaps even circus trick or two. Battle your way through the woods along the laser tag trail or even head to the picturesque lake to try your hand at some stand up paddleboarding.
After all that, you definitely deserve a dip in the fabulous new wood-fired hot tub. In fact, while the kids are living their best glitter face-paint life, why don’t you pop into the Après Ski bar for an authentic Alpine experience? Or head down to the lakeside Box of Frogs bar, where you’ll be treated to an exclusive Jin Talog signature G&T or gin cocktail. All of this against the soundtrack of the best in up-and-coming local music!
With this much to experience, you won’t want to head home, and you won’t have to! Round off your Big Cwtch experience with a luxury riverside camping experience in one of Fred’s Yurts, where you can relax and take in the incredible Cothi valley views.
The Big Cwtch is all about discovering the best that Wales has to offer, so of course we can’t go any further without mentioning our headline charity, Ski4All Wales. By running accessible adaptive ski sessions right here in Pembrey, the tireless work they do to has an incredible impact on the lives of so many people, and ensures that there are truly #nolimits
